Charlotte Mei’s approach to creating illustrations, ceramics, and animation is as unburdened as can be. With her playful use of colour, and gestural mark-making she creates abstracted figures, dream-like scenes, and dynamic characters that are full of emotion. Charlotte graduated from Illustration at Camberwell College of Arts, London, in 2012.

ロンドンをベースに「ペインティング」と「陶器」で作品を発表する彼女は、HermèsやRIMOWAなどのナショナルブランドの広告にも起用される注目のアーティストです。
「ペインティング」と「陶器」は全く異なるメディアのように見えますが、その2つには多くの共通点があり、片方を制作することでもう片方にも影響をし合うことが多いそうです。
森や公園で時間を過ごすことが大切だと語る一方で、カラオケをテーマにしたZINEの制作を続けている彼女の、ロンドンでのライフスタイルもカメラに収めました。緑や土に近い「アーシー」な色をベースに、ピンクなどの「ビビッド」な色の組み合わせることが特徴的な彼女の作風が、こうしたライフスタイルから生まれていることを感じ取れることでしょう。

She loves being in woods and parks, but at the same time, she keeps making a ZINE about karaoke.
