Leni is a Lisbon based illustrator of American and Japanese heritage.
She graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2007, and has worked in a number of fields including editorial illustration, animation, pattern design and portraiture.
Her colourful approach to illustration is influenced by her childhood growing up in Tokyo, her interest in the field of fashion, and her love of travel.

2007年 Central Saint Martins卒業後、エディトリアルイラストレーションやアニメーションのほか、パターンデザインやポートレートなど幅広い分野で活動を重ねる。
彼女の彩り豊かな作風は、幼少期を過ごした東京やファッション業界への関心の高さ、そして旅への愛からインスピレーションを受けている。

彼女の作品には様々な人種や体形の人々が数多く登場しますが、街角でスケッチをする時も作品を制作する時も彼女は「ダイバーシティを強く意識している」と言います。彼女がそう意識するようになったのは、アメリカ人の父と日本人の母を持っていることや、東京とロンドンで育ったこと、そして旅先で人物観察をしてスケッチを繰り返していることが大きく影響しているようです。
そんな彼女がリスボンの街を散歩したり、スケッチをしたり、作品を制作している様子を収めました。リスボンの美しい街並と共にお楽しみください。

Artist Portrait Movie Vol.11：Leni Kauffman
Leni's artworks feature a varied array of people with different backgrounds.
She is always conscious of capturing the diversity of people around her, even when drawing a quick sketch of a city landscape.
Various factors appear to contribute to her working in this way : having a Japanese mother and an American father, growing up in Tokyo and London, and keeping her "visual diary" of people-watching when traveling.
We shot her walking around and sketching the city of Lisbon, as well as how she makes her artworks.
