Tent was born in Tokyo in 1983 and is a graduate of Tama Art University. She participated in a short course (for one month) at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, London in 2005. Tent started her career in illustration as a member of an illustration unit, PARKS, which intended to "make people feel warm and happy as parks on a bright day do." After graduation (in 2006), while working for an advertising production company, she also began undertaking illustration jobs. In 2007, she struck out as an independent illustrator. She says, "I put a lot of things in one picture because I wanna trap a festival-like feel-free-to-come-and-go atmosphere in there." Her works have a sophisticated taste with enjoyable details, while maintaining overall balance as a picture. Individual characters also exhibit moderately loose, exquisite cuteness and pop feeling. |
